The Chapter Merit Award is presented at either the Biennial Fall Conference or, on the year without a conference, it is presented in the fall through the award recipient’s local chapter.
Purpose
- To identify and recognize the outstanding Local Chapter Association within the State of Texas for accomplishments, activities, and goals reached during the previous year.
Eligibility
- An active Local Chapter within the state of Texas
- One nomination per Local Chapter Instructions
- Nominations must be made by a current local chapter board member
- Complete attached nomination form and submit to the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence via the online application portal. Deadline for Nominations has been extended thru Nov 1, 2023. (Nomination forms received after the due date specified on the form will be disqualified.)
Selection Process
- The selection of the nurse shall be made by a judging committee selected by the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence. The committee consists of three (3) occupational health nurses. Members of the judging committee may serve for two (2) year terms. Committee members may be eligible for re-appointment.
- Identifying information will be omitted from copies of nominations prior to sending them to the judging committee.
- Prior to the presentation of the plaque, the chapter selected to receive the award shall not be revealed except to the TSAOHN President or others as may be deemed necessary by the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence.
Judging Criteria
- 50% Show that the chapter is active and promotes the continued growth of its members.
- 30% Show that the chapter keeps members informed of local, state and national events pertaining to the field of occupational health nursing.
- 20% Show that the chapter is well organized and active in seeking new members.
