The TSAOHN Achievement Award is an educational grant to TSAOHN sponsored by OMI; and presented in the name of the award recipient. The award is inscribed with the name of the recipient, and presented at either the Biennial Fall Conference or, on the year without a conference, it is presented in the fall through the award recipient’s chapter.
Purpose
- To provide recognition for the outstanding services of occupational health nurses at the state and regional level.
- To enhance the educational program activities of the cooperating state and regional association through an OMI grant.
- To encourage nurses to begin careers in Occupational Health Nursing and to inspire those in the profession to enrich their careers.
- To make the public aware of the high caliber of occupational health nurses and the role they play in maintaining our nation’s health.
Eligibility
- The nominee must be a registered nurse employed full time in occupational health nursing.
- The nominee must be a member of the Texas State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (TSAOHN).
- The nominee shall not have been a previous recipient of the award.
- The nominee shall have made outstanding contributions to occupational health or occupational health nursing in either organizational, educational, community or work site programs and activities.
- The emphasis of the TSAOHN Achievement Award is the attainment of a high level of competence in occupational health nursing and in the community.
- Self nominations will be accepted.
Instructions
- Complete the attached nomination form and submit to the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence via the online application portal. Deadline for Nominations has been extended thru Nov 1, 2023. (Nomination forms received after the due date specified on the form will be disqualified.)
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation that address the nominee’s achievements, professionalism, and contributions to the profession. (Letters of Recommendation received after the due date will be disqualified.)
Selection Process
- The selection of the nurse shall be made by a judging committee selected by the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence. The committee consists of three (3) occupational health nurses. Members of the judging committee may serve for two (2) year terms. Committee members may be eligible for re-appointment.
- Identifying information will be omitted from copies of nominations prior to sending them to the judging committee.
- Prior to the presentation of the plaque, the name of the person selected to receive the award shall not be revealed except to the appropriate representative of the sponsoring company or others as may be deemed necessary by the Director of Awards/Recognition/Benevolence judging criteria.
- Outstanding contributions to profession of occupational health. (50%)
- Outstanding contributions to community. (30%)
- Letters of Recommendation. (20%)
