In the role of Occupational Health Nurse, you will oversee treatment of ill/injured employees to include workers’ compensation and medical first response. This position will also assist in providing clinical case management for non-occupational health disability programs. You will serve as an expert in health promotion, health education and disease prevention for all Klein Tools facilities. The Occupational Health Nurse will also manage the hearing conservation program and perform audiometric testing. This position works closely with Environmental Health & Safety and Human Resources.
Additional responsibilities of the Occupational Health Nurse include:
- Provides initial assessment, direct care, treatment and follow up of work-related injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice and consistent with nursing guidelines.
- Manage the workers’ compensation program to provide case management and advocacy for employees.
- Serves as liaison to health clinics, physicians and hospitals for work-related and non-occupational injury and illness.
- Consult with Human Resources and provide clinical review with regards to STD and FMLA programs.
- Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical practice, e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, ADA.
- Partner with EH&S and operations in accident and near miss investigation, safety evaluations as well as identify, evaluate and implement accommodations and return to work for employees on restricted duty.
- Collaborate with EH&S and Human Resources to help grow the safety culture.
- Identify emergency situations and provide care within scope of practice.
- Manage First Responder programs to include training and certification at all Klein Tools facilities in addition to reasonable suspicion and bloodborne pathogen training.
- Develop health promotion and education strategies to optimize employee health.
- Serve as employee advocate and resource in utilization of benefits such referral to employee assistance programs, wellness programs, etc.
Qualifications:
- Active R.N. license in the state of Texas with five (5) years nursing experience in emergency, urgent care or medical/surgical nursing to include two (2) years in the occupational health setting.
- BSN or BS preferred. Must be BLS certified.
- Experience with workers compensation case management and FMLA.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN or COHN-S) is preferred.
- Certified Occupational Health Conservationist (COHC) preferred.
