The Occupational Health Nurse Director serves as the clinical leader for the COVID-19 Workplace Exposure Team for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). HHSC is driven by its mission to improve the health, safety, and well-being of Texans with good stewardship of public resources. The COVID-19 Workplace Exposure Team was created early-on in the COVID-19 pandemic to manage workplace exposures impacting HHSC offices, facilities, and affiliated sites. It serves to track, report, and assess such exposures. The Occupational Health Nurse Director provides clinical leadership for the COVID-19 Workplace Exposure Team and will direct analysis of exposure trends as well as the interpretation and application of state and federal public health guidelines. The Nurse Director will advise senior HHSC leadership on pandemic preparedness as it pertains to safety considerations for the workplace.

This position reports to the HHSC Chief Operating Officer. The work involved is highly advanced (senior-level) public nursing work to include planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the occupational health and safety of HHSC. The Occupational Health Nurse Director will work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for use of initiative and independent judgement.
