Summary of February 23, 2008 TSAOHN Board of Directors Meeting The TSAOHN Executive Board, Directors and Chapter Presidents met in Austin,
Texas for their spring board meeting. The following is a brief review of the
discussion: Karen Barrett, President, continues to facilitate the workings of the board and
offered support to the Houston chapter for the TSAOHN 2008 Fall Conference. |
| Lisa Kirby, Immediate Past President, working on the history of the organization
regarding record keeping for corporate vs. historical records. She will
establish a flow sheet of records to be retained. Continuing collaboration with
the awards director to improve the nomination notification process. Requested
changes to bylaws: 1. Recording secretary to act as historian. 2. Awards
chairperson should be combined with another position. 3. Delete past-president
position, institute president-elect position. Gloria Lundin, Governmental Affairs, was a speaker at the 2007 Fall TSAOHN Conference. Updating of Policy & Procedures, as well as Bylaws, in progress. Rose Williams, Communications, working closely with president and publicity director on Novartis flu vaccine discount and Disney Campaign, seminar regarding management/business practices. Established a Communication Committee to assist with projects related to this position. Investigating CEU online pilot project for our website. Collaborated with Gloria Lundin as speaker at the 2007 Fall TSAOHN Conference. Diana Scott, Professional Affairs, next conference scheduled for Nov 2008 at Intercontinental Hotel near the Galleria in Houston. Mary Gleinser, Publicity and Public Affairs, working with webmaster to set up PayPal streamlining advertising efficiency. Sent TSAOHN publicity materials to Ft. Stockton for job fair promotion. Mary Hazelwood, Election Advisory, requesting nominations for next slate of officers. Mary Garison, Awards, collaborated with Lisa Kirby regarding application process improvements. Chapter presidents gave their reports regarding local activities. One final note, a laptop is being purchase for the treasurer position to handle the TSAOHN financial information via our banking institution and Quicken software. This will ensure a smooth transition of treasurer and the organization account will remain separate from personal member account information. The next BOD meeting will be held on June 23, 2008 in New Braunfels, Texas. |
