Platform Statement:
Since my certification as
an OHN in 1985 I have had the pleasure of being an active participant with
TSAOHN and SATAOHN. I have watched the evolution of OHNs from the band aid
nurse to the professional association that we are now.
What continues to drive me to continue my TSAOHN involvement are our
current challenges. Our chapters are struggling with loss of membership,
scarcity of volunteers etc. In order to balance these challenges we need a
strong organization that understands chapter needs and support member’s
needs .We must focus on promoting and enhancing the profession of
occupational nursing. As the average baby boomer OHN retires we must
entice new nurses to enter this profession and become involved. I will
continue to advocate blending new OHNs with the seasoned nurses.
I will continue to build on my experience to accomplish our goals as OHNS
and maintain TSAOHN. I will do everything I can to reach out to current
and new members to understand the value of membership for professional
development.

Platform Statement:
My experience as
vice-president and president at the local level will assist me in
performing as vice-president at the state level. Additionally, serving at
three levels within my sorority provides many learning opportunities! As
you can see, I choose to be involved within the organizations that I
support.
My primary goal as Vice-President of TSAOHN is to support the president
and the entire organization in obtaining their goals. I believe that I can
accomplish this by attending all board meetings and taking action as
needed.
Another important goal is to continue to provide quality continuing
education at a reasonable price. I believe that our continuing education
offerings need to take into account the views and values of all of our OHN
members.
Additionally, I will help to promote Occupational Health Nursing at the
state and chapter levels. As the president of the North Texas local
chapter, I am already actively involved in pursuing this goal. I started a
mentoring program for senior nursing students at my current worksite and
have mentored seven students since the inception of this program.
Overall, I hope to be an asset to all of the TSAOHN Board by:
-
Scheduling BOD meetings
at convenient locations through out the state
-
Listening to input from
all of our members
-
Perform all duties of
Vice-President of TSAOHN timely, proficiently and enthusiastically.
